Getting Fast Results by Prioritizing, Leveraging and Focus
The pace and intensity of our lives, both at work and at home, leave several of us feeling like a person riding a frantically galloping horse. Our day-to-day incessant busyness — too much to do and not enough time; the pressure to produce and check off items on our to-do list by each day’s end — seems to decide the direction and quality of our existence for us.
However, if we approach our days in another way, we can consciously change this out-of-control pattern. It only requires the courage to do less. This may sound simple, but doing less can actually be very difficult. Too often, we mistakenly believe that doing less makes us lazy and results in a lack of productivity. Rather than, doing less helps us enjoy what we do achieve. We learn to do less of what is extraneous, and engage in fewer self-defeating behaviors, so we create a rich life that we truly feel great about.
Just doing less for its own sake can be easy, startling, and transformative. Imagine having a real and unhurried conversation in the middle of an unforgiving workday with somebody you care about. Imagine completing one discrete task at a time and feeling calm and happy about it. In this book, you will see a new approach. The approach is equally useful for our personal life and our work life. In fact, the two hemispheres of our work and personal lives constantly reflect on and affect one another, each changing and/or reinforcing the other.
Every life has awesome meaning, but the fog of constant activity and plain bad habits can often obscure the meaning of our own. Acknowledge and change these, and we can again enjoy the ways we contribute to the workplace, enjoy the sweetness of our lives, and share openly and generously with the ones we love. Less busyness leads to appreciating the sacredness of life. Doing less leads to more love, more effectiveness and internal calmness, and a greater ability to accomplish more of what matters most to us.

Review
“How to Accomplish More in a Fraction of the Time” offers a practical and accessible framework for navigating the demands of modern life. The book’s strength lies in its straightforward approach, breaking down the often complex topic of productivity into actionable steps. From chapter one, which focuses on the crucial skill of prioritization, the author establishes a clear path for readers to reclaim control of their time. The tips provided in Chapter 2 are refreshingly concrete, moving beyond generic advice to offer real-world strategies. Addressing the pervasive issue of procrastination in Chapter 3 is a highlight, as the author tackles the root causes rather than just the symptoms.
The subsequent chapters build upon this foundation, offering guidance on focus, working efficiently, and cultivating a more balanced approach to work and life through concepts like equanimity. Chapter 7, on the effective use of affirmations, may seem unconventional to some, but it is presented logically and aligns with recent research on mindset and self-efficacy. While the content is not groundbreaking, its value comes from its targeted application and accessible language. “How to Accomplish More in a Fraction of the Time” serves as a valuable resource for anyone seeking to enhance their productivity without sacrificing well-being. The book’s logical progression and clear writing make it an ideal guide for both newcomers and those already familiar with time management principles.

Review
“How to Accomplish More in a Fraction of the Time” is a gem for anyone feeling overwhelmed by their to-do list. The book delivers exactly what the title promises: actionable strategies to boost output while working smarter, not just harder. The structure is well-organized, guiding the reader from the fundamentals of prioritization (Chapters 1 & 2) to the more nuanced aspect of maintaining focus (Chapter 4). The chapter on procrastination (Chapter 3) is particularly helpful, offering tangible techniques to overcome this common roadblock.
As someone juggling the demands of entrepreneurship, I appreciated the focus on efficiency (“Work Less Accomplish More” in Chapter 5) which is not merely about saving time but also about maximizing the impact of that time. The author also goes a step further by incorporating elements like “Equanimity” (Chapter 6) and the practice of “Affirmations” (Chapter 7) which, unlike other productivity books, addresses not just the “what” but also the “how” of our mindset. These are not quick fixes but strategies that, if applied consistently, can change the way we approach work and life. The ending, “Wrapping up” (Chapter 8), provided a concise reinforcement of the core principles. This book isn’t about complex techniques; it is about clear and practical ways to make significant improvements in how we use our time, presented in an easily digestible format. For a busy professional or anyone looking to take charge of their productivity, this is a must-read.
